I can't claim credit for observing this (a comic video with Enrico Brignano on dialects brought it to my notice) however, now that I have heard about it, I see it more and more.
And thus it was today, discussing the way that firms are getting people to work from home during the coronavirus lock-down, that for the first time I heard the phrase "smart working" which is what has been adopted here in Italy for this new-fangled idea..
The thing that I particularly love is the way that an English word or phrase is folded neatly into an Italian sentence, without a pause, and given a certain twist or flair.. you see the sentence ending 'di lavoro smart da oltre...'
Where smart is actually pronounced 'dzmartt' in perfect flow. Also 'business', 'marketing', 'conference' as if they were indeed original Italian words.
Totally charming.
