Tranquillo, Tranquilla!

Papiano in the morning mist...relax and breathe...
A word that I seem to hear a lot of nowadays is 'tranquillo' (or, when said to Janet, 'tranquilla').

Typically the reasons that I hear this are:

1) Something isn't working quite right and I have asked for help to fix it
2) I want to book an appointment, and want to be specific about what and when
3) I just generally seem to be showing far too much worry and concern about something!

My rough translation of the 'mood' is - relax, you have found someone who can help, I am now in control of resolving this, you can take it off your worry list, chill out, cool your boots, it will all be fine..

Which for someone with a bit of a UK control freak mindset, that's not much help.

There's no doubt that we all bring our own mindset to all situations...typically this means that I am then feeling even more wound up as I have now moved one step forward and engaged an expert to help (including doing that in Italian on the phone) and now I am in the hands of the gods..(or the plumber..) so that's two steps back and some underlying stress until it is resolved...

..and yet...help always comes, and usually in a reasonable time frame..so it works. For those of you working in project management, it's the way I feel about a project using Agile techniques...

Tranquillo is a core underpinning of the Umbria Slow Life..I think I'm going to have to work on getting into that!
