And so it was that on Friday 14th February, we headed off to Terni, the birthplace of the eponymous Saint Valentine in 226AD. He was Bishop of the city, and martyred in Rome for ministering to persecuted Christians. There is some dispute as to whether in fact the day is named after St. Valentine of Rome. Who knows....

Our first minor error was to forget that the saint's day for the city's patron saint is also a local public holiday - and so, most of the shops were shut! However there was lots going on anyway including a very good food market (where a few salamis, some cheese and and some other treats came into the shopping bag...
Off then to the Villaggio Romantico, where there was a massive heart-shaped cake being created, some Jazz (it's Umbria so, natch..) and many stalls devoted to Cioccolentino

suffice it to say that it was too tempting..
